and looking further, once we can get a JDO implementation in place, I'd love to be able to ship a fully installable Apache-compatibly-licensed package (Roller, Tomcat, JDO, Derby) with the basic setup completed. That would rock.

Assuming Derby startup/shutdown is comparable to HSQL, would anybody oppose replacing HSQLDB with Derby in the JUnit testing portion of the build script? HSQLDB's idiosyncrasies and non-standardisms are starting to irritate me plus Derby rocks (and we've got friends on the Derby dev teams at Sun and IBM). - Dave
