I prefer games of skill over being beaten by a random number. Sure,
if the mean Org and I are equal, then it's up to random numbers.
But for me, the cool thing about ROM (or Circle, Envy, Copper..)is
I can overcome the odds by learning the Orc is weakened by light.
Or, I can find the best EQ for my level, and get an advantage there.
The best part is, once I know what I'm doing in a game, I can start
again and do it better... and better...

I suppose it depends on the sort of players you want to attract.
If all my skill at the game gets tossed out by a random generator
before I even enter School, I'll probably find a game where I get
an even chance every time. Be prepared to explain things over and
over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over
and over and over and over....
I think what you propose will be very popular.
