There are a few questions that should be asked here: 1. Which OS is she running? 2. Can she check her email when she gets booted? 3. Can she surf the net when she's booted? 4. Cable? DSL? Dialup? Which ISP? 5. Have you checked power management on the NIC? Have you tried setting it to half duplex? Have you tried uninstalling the NIC and reinstalling it? 6. Have you ensured her computer is spyware-free? 7. Does she have zone alarm, McAffee Personal Firewall+, or Norton Internet Security? (e.g., WHICH firewall did you disable?) 8. Since she has a router, have you tried another computer... can IT access the internet when she loses connection to the MUD?
I'm sure I'll ask more questions sometime... but in my current stint looking for a job, I'm doing DSL tech support. I deal with, and fix, problems much stranger than this on a daily basis. :-) Mark
