O zi minunata, Diana Deadline: 20th October 2004 1-AT-219: Caritas St. Elisabeth Project begin: February 2005, duration 6 months For this project we are looking for a person with following profile: a real mature volunteer (best over 20, as the +ACI-clients+ACI- are between 16-24 years+ADs- good self-confidence and flexibility, open minded, a good basic knowledge of German, no fear of people with disabilities+ACE- Male or female. 2002-AT-12: Nationalpark Kalkalpen Project begin: April 2005, duration 6 months For this project we are looking for a person with following profile: good knowledge of German, mature, good self-confidence, who likes to be in contact with people, open minded, with big big interest in nature , knowledge of computer, drivers license, tourist info, for whom it is not a problem to live in a small valley in the alps, who is also interested in mountains, hiking and riding the bike. 2003-DE-124 Deadline: 14th October 2004 Duration of project: 6 to 12 months, starting from 15.02.2005 Organisation: Eliashaus is house of shelter for homeless men. There is space for 85 men with special social problems. Some of them are alcoholics. It is the objective to help these men to return to an independent life and/or to live a life in which basic human needs can be fulfilled. A number of activities to provide these basics are done by professionals. The main duty of the volunteers is to add support in those fields, which cannot be covered by professionals. Tasks of the volunteers - Personal assistance for the residents: especially time for contact and talks. - Visit residents in the hospital. - Individual caretaking of residents: i.e. take food to the rooms of ill residents, collect the used dishes and take them to the kitchen - Help in changing beds of ill and disabled residents - Accompany residents to doctors, hospital, administrative offices - Take ill and disabled residents out for walks - Assist in outdoor activities like cinema, theatre, concerts - Assist in hikes and bicycle tours - Assist in shopping activities - Arrange leisure time activities with groups of residents: playing cards, games, football, volleyball, swimming, barbeque. - Driving and delivery services for food, visits to doctors, moving to another apartment, shopping - Shopping for the kitchen, the Cafeteria, the house maintenance. - Drive laundry, pick up bakery products - Helping in the cafeteria, prepare and sell hot drinks, soft drinks, sandwiches and sweets. - Service at the tables, cleaning of tables and bar. - Helping in the handing out of meals, clear tables and wash dishes and return dishes into cupboards. Assist to clean the kitchen. - Prepare and rearrange the meeting hall before and after events including setting and clearing tables, washing dishes, vacuum cleaning, move furniture - Good German - Being interested in the persons to deal with (homeless men) and being interested in social questions - Being able to work in a team - Being able to work independently in a way that things to be done are noticed - Psychologically being able to stand difficult situations Deadline: 15th March 2005, 15th May 2005 2003-PT-19- Comunidade Juvenil S. Francisco de Assis-Eiras- place for 2 volunteers Volunteer Tasks: Together with the other responsible for the leisure time and for the follow-up of children and youth education, the volunteers will have to set up a kind of leisure time agenda, helping to provide alternative leisure time, sports and after school activities. She/he has to help in the daily work of the house and to organize occasional activities in collaboration with AJP for the children and the young people of Comunidade. Each volunteer is also a support and a hand in the work of the +IBg-Comunidade+IBk-, by animating free afternoons and evenings, doing school follow-up, allowing alternative spaces for evasion, debate and reflexion and promotion of kids and youngster+IBk-s self-esteem and confidence. They will be an element of support in varied ways, they will be a friend that brings fresh air and new colors to the lives of those children and youngsters. She/he will be a part of this +IBw-big family+IB0-, kids coming from different countries, because the community is essentially a multicultural, multi-ethnic and open group that accepts each volunteer easily. +ALc- Help in the daily work of the house: cleaning, maintaining and driving. +ALc- Sporadically when needed, supporting the community in other ways like accompanying the children to the hospital, or do the shopping for the community, and also drive the Community+IBk-s car to leave some children or young people to the school or other places+ICY- +ALc- Be available to make daily following of the children and youngsters and by this we mean participating actively in their lives through having time to talk and listen to them, getting to know their past life and who are their best friends and family when they have one, see and valorize what they accomplished in the Comunidade, and being a friend that+IBk-s what they need more. Each volunteer is also a support and a hand in the work of the +IBg-Qunita+IBk-, by animating free afternoons and evenings, doing school follow-up, allowing alternative spaces for evasion, debate and reflexion and promotion of kids and youngster+IBk-s self-esteem and confidence. They will be an element of support in varied ways, they will be a friend that brings fresh air and new colors to the lives of those children and youngsters. She/he will be a part of this +IBw-big family+IB0-, kids coming from different countries, because the community is essentially a multicultural, multi-ethnic and open group that accepts each volunteer easily. Some activities in the daily routine: - Promotion of alternative leisure time activities for the children and youngsters like painting, drawing, playing music, rehearsing a theatre play, playing educational games, etc. - Promotion of sports activities in Quinta facilities, in the villages around (for example, riding a canoe in the river) or in Coimbra. Walks in the woods and mountains near Quinta are activities that the volunteer can arrange for the young people. Organizing a football championship is also an idea very appreciated by the youngsters. - Other after school activities like making the Quinta newspaper or filming a Quinta Television-show where debates about issues that happen in their daily life are simulated, where they can interview one another is a creative way of valorizing their lives, their problems and their opinion. - Helping in the schoolwork in collaboration with the professional social worker that usually has this task. Helping in the preparation of thematic and specific school papers, for example giving suggestion about the theme or the way to present it in an original way. The volunteer can be one more source of motivation for the youngsters to get interested about studying and learning. - The volunteer should also in a creative way present his/her country and homeland to the young people (history, geography, traditions, festivities, typical dances, music and instruments, gastronomy and other that he /she can think of) and if he/she wants and if some young people are interested he/she can teach a little of their mother language. - Besides these activities the volunteer is also and most of all a new friend that must gain the trust of the children and youngsters and be able to give them attention and to listen to them because most of all is this that this children miss.
