Receives Annex Questions From Romanian Government

EIA Team Projects Prompt Response

TORONTO, Jan. 31 /CNW/ - Gabriel Resources Ltd. ("Gabriel") announced today
that it has received the official list of questions (the "Annex Questions")
from the Romanian Ministry of Environment and Water Management relating to
its proposed Rosia Montana Project. In keeping with the process prescribed
by Romanian law and EU directives, these questions must be addressed in an
Annex to the Rosia Montana environmental impact assessment (EIA).
As the Company awaited receipt of the Annex Questions, its EIA team
continued to prepare responses based on the ongoing assessment of questions
that were raised during the Public Disclosure and Consultation Process
hearings held from July through August 2006 as well as the questions
received from Hungarian Ministry of Environment in late September. The
Company will begin reviewing the Annex Questions immediately, and based on
the preparatory work that has taken place, anticipates being able to provide
a prompt response.
