Romania ranks fourth after South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. The average world internet-connection speed was 1,7 Mbps, whereas in Romania it was 6,2 Mbps and in the USA was 3,9 Mbps. South Korea had an average internet connections speed of 14,6 Mbps. In Romania, 46 per cent of broadband connections had speeds that exceed 5.0 Mbps. Galati ranked ninth among towns that had adopted broadband high-speed internet connections, with 75 per cent of connections there higher than 5.0 Mbps, the Akamai report noted.
