Sure, we can try using some of the tools and just abandon the ones that 
cause problems.  
   
 You can either take the new build system and strip it down, or start with 
the old one again and just add the tools you need.  I've been maintaining 
the code in both branches, so you won't gain or lose any functionality 
either way.
