Ok then IO, please observe the most important rule:  
   
 * When making adjustments to the filesystem layout, be extremely careful 
not to introduce bugs into systems running the classic (single-directory) 
install mode!!!  
   
 You can ask dothebart about all the wonderful things that happen if you 
do that.  :)  In fact, the two of you should probably work closely 
together to come up with a build that is happy on both DEB and RPM style 
systems.
