I couldn't agree more.

I recommend, that when documenting use cases, initially ignore that the
'includes' and 'extends' associations exist.

It's after you become to realise that you are repeating the same or similar
functionality, over and over, then you may want to go back and consider
adding 'extended' or 'included' use cases to your model.

Don't look for them. Let them find you.

Jason makes a good point that the <<include>> and <<extend>> relationships
should be used with great care! Note that <<extend>> does not denote
specialisation, the UML generalisation relationship is a valid and useful
relationship between use cases for this concepts, and it is supported in
Rose.
