-----Original Message-----Could you expand on why use Class diagram rather than an activity diagram to depict the naviagtion flow? Currently I'm very incline to use activity diagram for such modeling.

You'll find conallen's presentation at this URL :http://www.conallen.com/whitepapers/webapps/ModelingWebApplications.htmIt explains the basics of WAE.Mainly, Conallen uses a class diagram to depict the navigation flow rather than an activity diagram. This is done because of the relations that have to exist between the different pages and controllers.Bonne lectureRomuald Restout

Im not familiar with WAE, but I think, for your target an activity diagram is good.

Betreff: Re: AW: (ROSE) Web Application Design using UMLAre these presentation available some where?
My basic need is to model the navigation flow of a web application from an analysis perspective. I'm not worrying (right now) if it's design with frames or not and if it's implemented in PHP, ASP, JSP/Servlet, XML/XSL. I'd just like to picture the web site 's navigation flow from a user 's perspective.
Conallen's "profile?" doesn't come handy for this. I'm incline to use an activity diagram for such modeling. That way I can show transition from one page to another, branching (such as if user is not autentified she is forwarded to the login page; if the search results is exactely one the user is forwarded to the detail page otherwise forwarded to the result list).
Similar things could be done with Conallen's "profile" using OCL, but it seems un-natural or am I missing something big ?
What's your thoughts on this?
Thanks
Alain.

There are some other activities, but I think, the AddIn of Jim Conallen is the best supportest one.
On "Rational Anwenderkonferenz 2000 / Mnchen" (European version of RUC) there were some presentations:
- Prof. Dr. Martin Wirsing, Uni Mnchen (LMU): Web-Engineering mit der UML
- Terry Quatrani, Rational Software USA: Web Modelling with Rational RoseThese are the two presentations, which I have seen. I think, at universities are some activities, too.

Bonjour Alain,
WAE is
a set of stereotype. Mainly class and association
stereotypes.
The
WAE class diagram describes relations existing between those
stereotyped classes. It describes the navigation that MAY happen, i.e. it does
NOT describe a specific scenario.
An
activity diagram provides the capability of describing how activities are
linked.
Display a page is an activity but it does not show
interaction between classes. So, the class diagram with "redirects", "creates",
... association stereotypes
Hope
it helps
