Hi !
In Rose 2001 Version , any Edition go toTools->Options->Diagram Tab and then
check
the "Sequence Numbering" and "Hierarchical Messages" Check boxes.
That will give you the nested numbering you want.
about making your own number I don't know a way to do that.
