Rob, one personal opinion of mine: you should focus on at max two tools for the first project, if you're new to the tools (and the best practices). The way we can support you is to start with a one day workshop and define an implementation plan, as it needs to be customized to fit your needs. >From a tooling point of view, you should look into the Rational Administrator and it's documentation. As first shot, you can easily add the domains one after another while your team grows and starts needing the corresponding best practice. The most tricky part is the integration between the tool domains, but Rational Suite comes with a predefined (and internally used at Rational:-) set of integrations. So, as long as you don't change (let's say the requirment and reqAttribute Types) too much, there shouldn't be unexpected work when extending your project with another best practice/tool. We're just getting into ClearCase (LT), ClearQuest and have experience with ReqPro and Rose. Our team is small (6-8) with two developers, two of us managing CM and requirements and the rest are field support. I'm responsible for configuring the Rational suite to be flexible enough for future growth. Any concrete suggestions/examples on how to best deploy the ClearQuest DB, ReqPro, and ClearCase servers over a suite of several servers running NT 4.0. We're using SQL Server 2000 and we'll be making extensive use of the web components. Thanks in advance for any input...
