Oracle Designer is the database modeling tool from Oracle. It targets the
physical modeling of the (mainly) Oracle database, and has some support for
logical modeling. It bases on ER methodology.
Rose is THE UML modeling tool. Rose can do all kinds of database design
(business modeling = conceptual design, logical design, physical design, and
physical implementation), and the modeling of the application (Java, C++,
etc.). Rose is therefor a "superclass" of Oracle Designer concerning the
functionality.
If you want to transfer models from Oracle Designer to Rose use the
