Hi again all,
first to answer your immediate questions:
If you look on the collaboration diagram toolbar you will see a link tool.
This can be used to draw links between objects. Messages can then be placed
on the links - in fact, you can't draw a message between objects on a
Collaboration diagram unless you draw a link first.
You can show classes on a Collaboration diagram, but only for the purpose of
showing how objects link to them or send messages to them. You cannot have a
full UML class rectangle on the same diagram as an object in this version of
Rose.
You can show objects with values for their attributes but you have to do it
by attaching text - this is a hack and is not the way I would prefer to do
it in Rose, but at least it gets you over that UML hump!
Likewise, you can add the state to the name of an object, but there is no
semantic connection between the state and the state machine of the related
class. However, Rose does provide this connection in Activity diagrams
So it is completely possible (although not necessarily elegant) to be UML
1.3 compliant and use Rose Collaboration diagrams to represent object
diagrams.
Regards,
Dave.
