When use Rational iterative development approach, I see a lot of places develop and maintain two project plans. One is the Macro Project plan covers the overall the highlevel milestones and the other one is specific to each iteration. Does anyone have any example of these two project plans? Also, I would like to get some knoweldge share on Time estimates. When I do my project, I typically have a 6-8 weeks inception and then determine the go or no go on the project. Because I am in the consulting business and a lot times deadline is given, I will then combine elaboration and construction, transition together to meet the deadline and define iterations within. In other business, I would assume people do elaboration first then construction. In this case, what is the best practice to estimate the time for each phase? I assume expereince means a lot here. But do you do estimates on elaboration first, depend on the outcome of elaboration, then do estimates on construction and transition or do estimates for each phase out front?
