Path maps
To ensure portability of rose models Rose uses a mechanism called path maps.
Path maps are used to reference controlled units using a virtual path
instead of a physical path. A typical path might be $MYPATH = g:\foo\bar. To
edit or create new virtual path maps, select File:Edit path maps.
When a model is saved, the virtual path entries are used to transform the
full pathnames of controlled units to symbolic "virtual" pathnames before
storing each pathname in the model file. To the fullest extent possible it
replaces the actual path name with a virtual path symbol. For example, if I
have an entry in my virtual path
$MYPATH=c:\foo\bar\controlledunits
and I save a package file as c:\foo\bar\controlledunits\pkga.cat
its path gets stored in the model file as:
$MYPATH\pkga.cat
When another user opens the model file in Rose and has a different virtual
path map setting for $MYPATH, his setting is substituted. This lets
different users access their models via different paths.
The virtual path map mechanism also lets you define paths relative to the
model file using a special syntax:
$MYPATH = &\controlledunits
indicates that controlled units are found in a subdirectory of the model
file's directory, named "controlledunits".

I think that should answer your question. If you still have more queries ,
you are welcome here.

Subject: (ROSE) Rose Path maps and controlled units
Hi again,
How can I use Rose Path Maps to load controlled units? When I use the
Units|Load menu item, I get a file browser, but no option to use Rose Path
Maps.
I'd like to share my model with others, who may have the controlled units in
a different path.
Thanks,
Josh
