Hi Alexander,

Yes, that's how we do it. This way the only path map needed is CURDIR, and
you have the freedom to move your model + units to any location you want -
and it will still work when you colleague does the same. However, sometimes
you need to include (load) an existing unit from another project and
location (outside the directory and subdirectories of your MDL file). The
way we handle this is to share the unit in Sourcesafe to my current project,
check it out (or get latest) along with the units from my own project.

Thank you, Eric !
You help me to know better, for what Virtual paths are needed.
But I mean that the usual place of control units is "in the same directory
as the MDL file (or any subdirectory hereunder)".
Isn't it ?

The $CURDIR=& is a relative path map which means that units are in the same
directory as the MDL file (or any subdirectory hereunder). Say you and you
colleagues have the convention that no matter the absolute location of you
project workspace, where the MDL file is, you units will be in a
subdirectory named UNITS. If all developers define the CURDIR (part of the
Rose installation and setup procedure) they can use any location for their
workspace

There is a passage from Rose's help section "Defining Virtual
Paths":

        "...
To allow different users to open the model and load the unit in
different workspaces, each user can create a path map:

        $CURDIR=&.
        ..."

Read it for details, please !

        All the best!

        Hi again,

How can I use Rose Path Maps to load controlled units? When I use
the Units|Load menu item, I get a file browser, but no option to use Rose
Path Maps.

I'd like to share my model with others, who may have the controlled
units in a different path.

        Thanks,
        Josh
