I had meant it as the use case realisation, that is, a collaboration.
A collaboration realises a use case given some design decisions. The assumption is that different design decision sets lead to different realisations of the same use case. Everything to do with one set of dsign decisions (sequence and the colaboration diagrams) then gets attached to the relevant collaboration. This is a way of keeping several possible implementations of one use case in a single model. If you have only a single set of design decisions, that is, if you've decided to build a use case one way and one way only, there is only a single collaboration for that use case. Then it becomes quite unnecessary to have the indirection between the use cases and their realisations. And let's face it, most software projects will have only a single implementation for a use case. Most organisations have a hard time working with a single set of use cases, let alone with multiply realised use cases. If they can pass the first hurdle and manage to mature their process using simple use case models, migrating their models to the more elaborate collaboration-based scheme is child's play in comparison.
