Let me give an example

Class   3..10              1..4 Class
Student ----------------------- Course Offering

The diagram above means Student can take 1 to 4 Course
Offerings.
On the other hand, Course Offering can have 3 to 10
students.(the line implying an association
relationship)

* means many(not defined number, I think).

I don't know how to represent non-identifying
relationship on the class diagram.

But when you model a data model, you can represent the
relationship between the tables.
