Crystal - apparently, there are some legal/contractual technicalities with the actress, Natalie West. Her contract for the show let's her appear in the syndicated run, but apparently not for any other use of her image, as in commentaries and such. Remember, even when "Roseanne" went off the air, there really wasn't the availability of TV shows for personal use, like there is now. Sure, there was Star Trek, and I believe the early seasons of "Roseanne" were available through Columbia House or somewhere, but this was not widely known AND they were fairly expensive. btw, I've seen most of the previous seasons at Wal-Mart for $20, which is why I held off on buying s5 there for $27 (and +$30 elsewhere!). and the Hallowe'en DVD can be found for usually under $10! (seasons 2 thru 8) Season 6 is due first week of December, I believe.
