Damfino. Might be something particular to whatever widget set you're using,
or some side effect of running the thing from GNOME with sawfish or metacity
or whatever for a WM, though that seems rather unlikely.

I humbly point out that I'm not a complete imbecile, and that we're talking
about precisely the same thing.
All together now... Choose a different widget set for KDE and this problem
should go away. Have you done that yet? You never said whether or not you
have the option of running kcontrol. If you don't, I'll poke around and give
you some lines to paste into whatever rc file it is which configures this
stuff. I don't know off hand.
