Ha!

Did I post that one a while ago about how we usually have argued long
and hard about each element of GUI design and how we're not going to
have check boxes for every WIBNIF that comes along?

If I didn't then I meant to. Thinking about it though - where did we
all get the energy to argue long and hard about anything? Perhaps it's
just summer ennui? As opposed to the winter one..?

Anyway, good to see that W is still posting lists of improvements and bugs.
We really need a way of streaming bugs and FRs by release or something. Our
plan (and by this I mean that Chris and I have talked about it once) is to get
another release out by the end of this month that will signal the start of beta
proper - at that point we will want to start to forget FRs and non 1.0 bugs.
In that regard we really need to get our bug lists shaken down and in order
so that we know what we need to concentrate on. I'm trying to arrange to
have perhaps a whole afternoon off from DIY and other tasks this weekend to do
something along those lines.

BTW I've now got myself a day job to aid stability in preparation for the baby
that arrives next month. So while my time is very short and only sure to get
shorter I just wanted to let y'all know that I'm still around and I've still got
my eyes and ears open. Goddamn. And there's still a plan. Oh yes. And that
translators and tutorial types (no names mentioned) might want to bear the end
of July in mind as a good time for drawing a line under stuff.

I'm thinking it would be good if to announce our beta programme and give it
something of an official wave off on rosegardenmusic.com - give Planet CCRMA
and AGNULA a heads up and a couple of weeks to get things packaged and then
launch a web page or three devoted to helping new users get started and get
beta testing. I'm not suggesting that this all happens by the end of this
month - but if we can get a release out and the tutorial looking good then
we've got the major components done. Then by mid August we can give it the
gloss and get it slashdotted.
