One of the best hell. It's not very politically correct of me to admit I feel
this way, but as far as I'm concerned, Rosegarden is the category killer that
renders all parallel efforts futile.

I'm still that "any MIDI apps for Linux that don't suck?" guy at heart. I'm a
developer now, and I understand how it feels to be crapped on. (Like this
thread, for example.) I've gotten a lot better about not crapping on other
people--about realizing that somebody somewhere loves every piece of
ugly-to-me code as much as I love Rosegarden--but I can't help how I feel
deep down. I'm still very much a take it or leave it, all or nothing kind of
guy, and there's just nothing else out there. I'm a finicky, unappreciative,
gimmie gimmie gimmie bastard at heart, and there's only one application worth
my nights and weekends, worth my vacations, worth actually *using*.

Rosegarden is basically you with a lot of help from a couple of friends, and a
little help from a lot of friends. I'm the longest running, most active bit
player I've seen since I've been here, and what I've managed to do is really
pretty trivial in the final analysis. Useful, I hope, but I'm not exactly
giving you a lot of support getting this thing done. You've got bits and
pieces from here and there--good bits, good pieces--but the bulk of the work
has always fallen on the core developers, and on you especially.

You deserve a Cuban cigar and a bottle of ridiculously expensive wine or
something, not a whine that this isn't Logic. If someone wants Logic, they
should go buy a Mac for $2,000, and a copy of Logic for $1,000 and STFU. Or
else send us the patch, or start funding this little endeavor with something
that spends a lot more readily than whine.
