I was telling Chris earlier about how I was just playing with RG today, and not accomplishing anything at all.
One thing lead to another. I recorded an entire guitar part without any sort of tempo reference, then spent a long time fooling around trying to figure out what the tempo was. I concluded eventually that I must have gotten my timing off, and that recording off the cuff like that wasn't going to cut it. I can't rock out to a dink dink dink dit, so I set about making up a little drum part. I had been meaning to write about how to do a drum part for the matrix chapter. I just spent a couple hours doing snapshots and writing copy and I have completely lost all inspiration and all desire to do music. It was fun while it lasted though. Rosegarden has gotten pretty damn useful. Especially since I finally booted that AGNULA kernel and made all my JACK stuff start working oh so much better. (Go ahead, Rich, you won't get a second opportunity to gloat about this, so let me have it with both barrels. :) I have to say, honestly, the only place where I still find a disturbing number of bugs is within the notation editor. I'm never quite sure if what I'm seeing is WAD or one of myriad unsolved mysteries. It's making it a trifle hard to document the thing, since I have no idea what will actually be fixed for 1.0 and what won't. If I document it as is, I might be setting myself up for more work later on. I'm especially wondering about multiple voices, and the whole bug #988185 issue. Chris, do you think you will really get rid of all >6 bugs before the final release? I've looked at some of them, and they're your baby. I don't have the first clue how to fix any of those problems. Anyway, for now, I think I will skip over all but the most stable of notation features and jump into audio stuff, then come back to try to hit the more bug-prone aspects of notation later on. Well, that's enough for now I think. I'm going to do an interim commit and try to put the documentation back out of my mind and finish this little composition. Hrm. Forgot to send this. Well, two more hours of playing. I've about got this together, if I can lay the flute part down without my dogs howling. I've had occasion to import stuff from an old file, and I'm wondering where I should mention that in the book. It's actually damn handy. So far, so good. Just need to work on the broken item on the other side of this guitar. My timing sucks. Then again, it's the first time I've picked it up in almost a year I guess. -- Michael McIntyre ---- Silvan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Linux fanatic, and certified Geek; registered Linux user #243621 http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/5407/ http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by Shop4tech.com-Lowest price on Blank Media 100pk Sonic DVD-R 4x for only $29 -100pk Sonic DVD+R for only $33 Save 50% off Retail on Ink & Toner - Free Shipping and Free Gift. http://www.shop4tech.com/z/Inkjet_Cartridges/9_108_r285 _______________________________________________ Rosegarden-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] - use the link below to unsubscribe https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rosegarden-devel
