But of course there are more than even just two ways to do this. There *is* no "mass of civilization" standard for this. Look around at some locale comparison sometime. I'd say that per capita the 123,456.78 system probably wins (USA, English-speaking Canada, Mexico, almost all of Central America, China, Japan, Australia, and almost certainly others), with the 1,23,456.78 system (India) probably number two (per capita), and then the 123.456,78 system is third, then you get into oddballs like 123 456.78 (France and Russia, at least), and probably others. I spent too much time comparing locales as it is. I've made my point in spades, and I won.
