I notice we also have a bug that we caused and then got rid of again during that auto-scroll work -- namely that if you just play something and hover the mouse button over the window, a selection rectangle is created up to the mouse pointer position each time a scroll happens.

Can't reproduce this at all.

Me neither! But I'm see what Chris has described (if I understood well) when simply using sliders (horizontal and vertical).

Also it crashed when I double-clicked on something.

On something what ? I can't reproduce this. It opens a segment in notation
mode whether I'm clicking on an existing segment or on the canvas.

Ah, it crashes on exit though, in Composition::notifySourceDeletion(). *sigh*.

True for me too! no, wait... ocassionaly.

If you're looking at doing previews at any point, don't forget that I
refactored the segment canvas previews so as to use an asynchronous
helper class for calculating audio previews in the background (see
audiopreviewthread.h).

OK.

Some other notes on segment canvas:
1) Playback pointer slower than mouse arrow moveing when doing ruler dragging on zoom other than 100%. Looks like there is fixed ratio for that,
2) No auto-expanding of composition duration! (Should I expect that to happen?)
3) Shift+select brings multiple segments selected. Selection remains even when you release shift and click on any other segment.
4) Entering notation editor brings some crazy ultra short rests even when it's obvious that single one will do the work.
5) sure there are many others...
