I still don't trust this. It should be using pkg-config in the first instance for libraries that use it, and then checking the headers or libraries using the include or link paths returned by pkg-config. Maybe it is doing that -- I haven't looked at the code. I'm just wary of the fact that it only prints "Checking for main() in C library blah" and nothing else. btw, we still also appear to lack a test for Xft.
