And I should add to that: if you connect the output port to something 
else as well as the original connection, Rosegarden should leave the 
internal state showing the original connection only (because it only 
shows one connection per device).  If you then disconnect the original 
connection, leaving the device connected only to the new one, 
Rosegarden should update so as to show the device as being connected to 
your new connection.

If that makes any sense to you, please try it and let me know if it 
behaves otherwise.
