I'm rolling back the event filter to 1.0.  I screwed something up when I 
abolished all the useless parts, and I have no idea when I'll have time or 
inclination to take a proper look at it.  Fastest fix is just to revert.

The recording preview thing seems OK now.

I really need to sit down and actually put it through its paces before we 
release though.  Probably should use it to do some little project, because 
things tend to appear in the course of real work that don't show up during a 
quick test thrash.
