Gooooooood luck! I used to believe that too, but I convinced myself
otherwise. It works out very well with mechanically-entered data, but it's
extremely delicate with human-performance data.

I might still have my collection of sample .rg files that render as utter crap
in Lilypond (eg. 457 notes in a single measure). If so, I'll pass them
along. It would be a good starting point to figure out how to fix that
first, because that is the real key to ever getting to a point where the
Lilypond export is reliable enough to use in any day to day situation without
extensive reworking.

The fix might even come down to recognizing an un-renderable pattern and
inviting the user to fix it in Rosegarden and try again. A lot of this stuff
looks OK notation quantized, but it's still subtly wrong. Other stuff is
obviously wrong even in Rosegarden. I'm not sure if I even think having red
barlines is a good idea. I think it might be better simply to force people
not to draw/play/import measures which don't count out correctly in the first
place.

Multi-voice stuff is a big factor here too. An imported (or played)
four-voices-in-two-hands piano part, even after it has been "split-and-tied"
is almost 100% guaranteed to produce utter gibberish in the Lilypond export.
(Gibberish as judged by what the resulting page looks like before going in to
tweak the Lilypond code by hand, I mean.)
