Indeed. > My first thoughts are that such an advanced notation editor (ANE) would > have to be able to completely replace Lilypond, since a system where you > need to work: > ANE->RG->Lilypond would be pretty frustrating to work with. Or at least a system where everything in the ANE exports to Lilypond perfectly for pretty printing. Getting RG to print as well as Lilypond is probably reaching over the top. > Also, - depending on how you work - it would probably effect your work > process. I usually start with the sequencer and make stuff sound right. I usually start with an imported MIDI file (hopefully a mechanically-rendered one) or else I draw everything by hand. I have no prayer of ever turning anything I actually play into usable notation. Or at least that has traditionally been the case. I've been spending 90 minutes a day, five days a week working with a metronome, and I might actually learn to read and play rhythm correctly for once in my life. Maybe. :) > I'm not sure putting the advanced notation facilities first in the > process is good. > > Maybe a set of use cases would be good. It sounds like it would be. I don't have time at the moment to think through them. Me too, but what about something with a DC or a DS and a coda? That's trickier. Or what about nested repeats? Anyway, let's think!
