Bon anniversaire!

See picture for how they look. Weird white lines where there used to be gaps,
it looks like. A step in the right direction. I haven't managed to create a
situation that yields a preview that's a no show, and no flurry of X errors.

X11 usage seems to be way, way down. I'm playing that Zynfidel file with
ZynAddSubFX running, watching top with most of Rosegarden visible on the same
desktop. This seems to much for my computer, and I'm getting a ton of xruns,
but CPU usage seems pretty sane. It's running about

sequencer 20%
GUI 20%
zynaddsubfx 20%
X 10%

That's a big improvement over where you started. Skipping ahead to the bit
with as many audio segments exposed as possible, it doesn't seem to be
increasing the load by much. This thing doesn't have a great heaping lot of
audio tracks though.

As far as recording, the previews are still absent. I figured out why. Chris
pointed out that you aren't updating the recording preview until MIDI events
arrive. You aren't updating the *audio recording previews* either until MIDI
events arrive. Record audio alone, see no preview ever. Record audio and
MIDI simultaneously, and both previews catch up when some MIDI comes in. The
audio previews are still empty pink rectangles, which I'm not sure if that's
supposed to have changed in favor of a running audio preview or not. If so,
it doesn't work, if not, no big whoop then. Getting the original 1.0
behavior back would be just fine.

As far as other problems I have recently reported, like the weirdness with the
canvas scrolling of its own volition when manipulating the zoom slider, I
don't see any change. Still some annoying quirks to iron out there, looks
like.
