http://lac.zkm.de/2006/ -- 4th International Linux Audio Conference.
The first of these I noted, but made no effort to go to. (OK, my mistake -- how was I to know it'd be my last chance?) But then I decided I'd definitely go to the second one. Then when it came around, I was a few months into the Fervent Software work and without having sold anything yet I had no chance of being able to afford to attend. So I listened to a number of the audio streams, which was a very helpful thing to be able to do, and decided I'd definitely go to the third one. When the third one came around I _could_ afford to go, but my second son had just been born and I'd had to pick up a load of extra work in banking to be in a position to afford anything, so I had absolutely no time. I considered going there and back within a day, but Karlsruhe is just a bit too difficult to get to for that. By and large I wasn't able to listen to the audio streams either, but I decided I'd definitely be in a position to go to the fourth one. Now it turns out the fourth one clashes with a major family occasion, so I can't go. I should set up my own Linux audio conference next year, just so I can go to the damn thing. I'll give a paper or two, to me and the guy at the bar in the local. We'll talk about plugins and score layout. I'll go "so, plugins and score layout" and he'll go "I'm a bit deaf, you'll have to shout". And then we'll have another.
