"That wasn't in the script" was just an idiomatic way of saying I didn't
expect it ("script" as in "film script").

OK, so based on this small survey I think I should bring the patch
across to HEAD. Nobody so far has reported measurably worse results in
the experiments branch, and most reports seem to have it up to 20% or
so quicker.
