That answers that. Traffic on -devel is low enough I don't think anyone could
have missed one of the three copies I sent up with various edits.

I dug the text out from an old message/thread in July, and have since doctored
it up to take into account what was said in that thread, and what has
happened since, to the best of my knowledge. Please do season to taste,
because you are The Voice of Rosegarden <bows to floor and waves outstretched
arms up an down while chanting "aooooom, aooooom">.

Here it is again:

We have fixed (or at least closed) 153 bugs since our last release one year
ago, many of which were related to the segment canvas. We apologize for the
long delay, but we are in a much better position to go forward from here.
The segment canvas work consumed most of 2005, and the 1.1 release we should
have made last July, but didn't.

New features/enhancements in Rosegarden 1.2.3

* NEW! simplified build system based on Scons and BkSys

* NEW! stable branch
        * you should never have to suffer with the same old bugs for an entire
year

GUI:
* NEW! redesigned, more responsive, more accurate segment canvas capable of
  displaying extremely large documents correctly

* improved appearance of many icons (thanks to Vladimir Savic for
  contributing)

* vastly expanded default segment colors available in factory autoload

* separate default colors for audio and MIDI segments

* more accurate, more efficient audio previews

Playback/Recording:

* MTC/MMC sync (thanks to Vince Negri)

* improved automatic timer selection for 2.6 kernels
        * except the very newest 2.6 kernels, which are shipping with broken
          timers :(

* NEW! multi-track, multi-input audio recording

* NEW! support for external MIDI controllers

* simultaneous MIDI and audio recording

* improved JACK transport sync

* audio submasters can now pipe through shared effects plugins

* fixed long-standing punch in/punch out bugs

Matrix:

* fixed crescendo/decrescendo set event velocities bug

* NEW! percussion matrix
        * user-configurable percussion key maps
        * GM percussion map available in default autoload, and GM.rgd device
file
                * contributors are invited to update their contributed library
submissions
                  with the new keymaps

Misc:

* NEW! integrated project packager/unpackager for sharing audio-based projects
  (.rgp files) with others

Notation:

* support for Lilypond version 2.6

* NEW! automatic, hands-off "print with Lilypond" preview function via File ->
  Export -> Preview with Lilypond

* more accurate rendering of Rosegarden's text types in Lilypond
