That's after a couple of seconds of doing what? Playing some MIDI? Playing an empty composition? Using a DSSI synth? > Is this because my kernel is not suitable? Probably not -- although I think you're right, by all accounts that one isn't great for audio stuff. A not-low-latency-enough kernel might cause audio dropouts, poor timing etc. But if this message is telling the truth, the problem is simply that the CPU is overloaded, and that shouldn't have anything much to do with latency. That's why I'd like to know what you were actually doing (e.g. what you were trying to play) at the time. (It is perhaps possible that the calculation RG is doing to work out the CPU load is getting it wrong because of something to do with the non-low-latency kernel.
