I'm feeling unwell today, so I'm not very clear headed or communicative.
But I vaguely remember having intended to send an email like this one at the
weekend and not having got around to it.
1. Colour scheme etc for Rosegarden. Cheerfully trivial stuff.
I'm sick of the puke green default segment colour. I'm not very keen on
the other green (default audio segment) either. I think we should change
them both to something other than green. Elegant suggestions welcomed.
I think the background pixmap for the main canvas will probably do, but
if anyone out there with taste would like to propose an alternative, go
ahead. We could supply more than one.
Likewise, the notation canvas background has been subject to some debate,
as Michael noted that the original paper texture was invisible to his eye
and introduced a darker one. I find the darker one a bit too dark.
Again, we could happily include more than one -- does anyone have other
suggestions? Note that there's also a brown wood-effect pixmap for areas
outside the paper boundaries in multi-page mode. Anyone fancy coding up a
simple selector in the preferences dialog? (If we do end up with more
then one option.)
2. A wiki.
Anyone like to install, configure and manage (where necessary) one?
I mocked and scoffed at the suggestion of a Rosegarden wiki not that long
ago, but I've almost talked myself around. Apart from user support, some
of the developer discussions on this list recently (e.g. track parameters,
notation developments etc) might benefit from being recorded somewhere
other than email, particularly if they're things that are being
deliberately shelved for the moment with the intention of returning to
them after 1.3 (as many are).
We can probably run a wiki on the rosegardenmusic.com domain now, and
it no longer shares admin password etc with any other domain, so
whoever runs it can have direct access -- though that would have to be
someone who's been around and active on this list for a while. Contact
me off-list if you're interested, and follow up on-list if you have any
bright ideas.
