A few days ago I received a mail from the current maintainer of ktabedit,
which is the "resurrection" of kguitar
(http://ktabedit.sourceforge.net/wordpress/) offering to work together.

I've had some "preliminary" talks with him, in order to check what kind of
stuff we could do in common, my idea was obviously to integrate ktabedit as
an editor (given that our guitar code is pretty much in limbo as far as I can
see), but he'd rather keep ktabedit independant if possible, so that would
mean turning it into a kpart (and moving our editors into kparts as well -
something which would probably be worthwhile, if only for the decrease in
resource usage).

Aside of that, most of the work would obviously be on his side. We've
concluded that for a start, we (well, he) should try to get ktabedit to use
the same data structure as we do, which won't be easy given how different its
current data structure is (for instance it saves and keeps count of bars in
its document, as opposed to us calculating them on the fly).
