At the moment it generates plausible fingerings for a defined linear
melody, but the architecture is such that it can (and will) embrace
chordal material later. The key being that it takes into account the
ease/difficulty of the moves between the notes/chords.

So, Holdsworth is like
"I want to play this exact chord (down to the notes) - what's the best
way to do that?"

The other programs are like
"I want to play a Cm7 here, what options do I have?

A possible link between the two might be to have the latter program
generating suggestions for Cm7 and then use Holdsworth to evaluate
them for feasibility. Or alternatively, if one of the other programs
has a good algorithm for evaluating a chord fingering's feasibility,
that algorithm could be brought into Holdsworth's framework to help it
make better decisions when creating tab for a chordal passage.
