Just for the record, I've just moved to kubuntu 6.10 Edgy. After years on Mandrake and even longer on rpm-based distribs (last time I installed a debian was in 1996 I think) I lost my patience due to yet another very painful upgrade (it started with the 2007 upgrade not realizing that I had a 32bits distrib installed even though I have a 64bits CPU, thus rendering my machine unbootable, and ended with me being utterly unable to get rid of Mandrake's brain-damaged idea of what the KDE menu should look like even with my own compiled KDE).
Kubuntu's been a breeze so far, at least compared to Mandrake (it does have a few quirks, but it's still waaayyyy better). -- Guillaume. http://telegraph-road.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
