I have a MIDI track that has been recorded without a click track, with
some random tempo throughout that doesn't really have anything to do
with the actual timing of the notes. I want to effectively create the
tempo changes to align the beats to the notes, without altering the way
that the piece sounds.

I tried recording a beat segment and using the "Set Tempos from Beat
Segment" option. While this correctly set up the tempo changes, the MIDI
segment remained constant in musical time (which is not what I want,
since the musical time is all wrong) instead of real time (which is what
I want). In other words, I have tempo changes that align to the way that
the piece is supposed to sound, but the piece now sounds all wrong
(incidentally, the beat segment has the same problem - although the
composition's beats align to the way I recorded them in the beat segment
in real time, the beat segment no longer sounds that way, as it stayed
misaligned). Looks like this would have worked perfectly had the piece
been a wave audio segment, but not for MIDI.

Reimporting the MIDI file into the composition doesn't help, since it
follows the same behavior of keeping musical time constant. I understand
that Rosegarden generally keeps track of time internally in musical
terms, not real time terms. What I want is a way to either import a MIDI
file and correlating it to the composition using real time (MIDI musical
time to real time using the MIDI's time base and tempo changes, and back
to Rosegarden musical time but using the composition's existing tempo
changes), or something similar done to an existing MIDI segment at the
same time as I set the tempos from the beat segment.
