I can picture something where the entire staff you're working on is a bright box against a darkened background, and I like that vision. (I can't think of any examples, but I've been noticing this on login boxes for web pages a lot lately. The whole page darkens and the box pops out in sharp contrast.) The only problem is what to do when you're editing overlapping segments on the same staff? If the segments are close to the same length, the active bit would have to take priority, and the inactive bit would pretty much have to appear active too. As such, lightening the non-active notes and other whatnots seems like a more practical solution. As long as they look different from "invisible" notes. > Yes, definitely. I'll look into this one.
