The way staff grouping is implemented works fine. Grand staffs are grouped by a brace but there are "plain" braces and braces inside a bracket group. The option "Export multistave instrument" let's a uses choose whether "plain" brace are used to export to a grand staff or braces inside brackets also should create a grand system. > I'm still somewhat confused. Maybe changing "multistaff" to "grand staff" > (like a piano or organ) is the key to my understanding though. A grand staff is what I meant by multistaff. Sorry for the confusion.
