Is this a problem where you log in, and that appears to have gone fine, but then when you try to actually edit something it reverts to behaving as if you were not logged in? If so then I've seen this but I'm not quite sure what causes it. It does seem to vary from one browser to another -- try a different browser and see whether you get any further.
