This is genius! Your description makes all of this sound pretty complicated to set up, but I compiled the changes and had a go at it. With just a moment of thought to plan my moves ahead of time, I was able to construct a composition with 1-3 endings and a 4 ending on the very first try. The only oddity in the resulting notation is there is a final empty bar at the very end that isn't supposed to be there. I'll have to see if there's anything I can do on the user side to make that go away, but even if there isn't, an extra empty bar is a small price to pay to have a reasonable way to get alternate endings working, and to have a composition that plays "unfolded" and prints up into a neat single page. I happen to have a night off due to severe inflammation of my right foot that causes me unbearable pain while driving. It is so painful that I am physically unable to operate my truck safely, so I have to sit at home and let the medicine do its job before I can return to work. Since I have a bit of time off, I'm going to see if I can put together a tutorial explaining this new feature tonight. -- D.
