Started writing this yesterday, got lost, forgot what I was going to say. Long and short of it is that your alternative selection thing is positioned where I'll never trip over it by accident, and so you have only yourself to please in terms of whether it works to your satisfaction or not. The "Unadopt an adopted segment" thing is available as soon as I start editing in a single segment composition. From what you were saying the other day, I suspect this option is making itself available when it shouldn't be. I kind of like the name when I think about it. It says "What on earth does this do? I had best not touch that, because it might break something." That seems fitting for something that's kind of complicated and hard to explain. A whole bunch of menu entries need to be policed for style. We have a mix of "Some menu item thing here" and "Some Menu Item Thing Here" all on the same menus. It's easier to implement the latter style on the few exceptions than to apply the former style everywhere, but I don't actually care which gets done. I have no real opinion on what style to use, just on consistency in using the same style everywhere. -- D.
