Thanks Michael. Yes, I used the matrix a bit but my idea was to check my 
notation and playing (i.e. I was playing the notated music correctly) 
using this method, but that looks like it's not going to work. I tried 
recording with the drum matrix and then adjusting the notes, but 
stumbled over the same issues anyway. I think you're right, I just 
wondered if I was missing something, but apparently not.
