There is not, and such an option is unlikely. Rosegarden fills empty spaces with rests automatically. Where there are rests, there are empty spaces. Lots of annoying short rests come up frequently when working with human performances, and the usual thing to do is clean up the notation to close up the gaps. Done properly, this has no effect on performance. I suppose there's a certain art to it, and I'm usually pretty good at doing this. Let me see what you're working on, and I'll see what you're up against. Sometimes this is easy, sometimes it's monumentally tedious, and there isn't much middle ground between the two extremes. -- D.
