I was very lucky in my youth to have two aunts who were teachers, then later I 
did some technical training myself. Learned a long time ago that you have to 
open stating WHAT you are going to teach, HOW you are going to teach it, and at 
every step the student has to know without any doubt exactly where s/he is in 
that process with a short review that gets longer. That said, I also had some 
other teachers that I NEVER forgot (I'm 78 so there were many): one of them 
(Communicaton Arts) began by saying "Today ladies and gentlemen you are going 
to learn the importance of brevity", he thereupon took of his specs, closed his 
binder, and walked out of the auditorium :-))))
