So it sounds like what Chuck was saying. With the GM.rgd file (which is included in the autoload), the bank select is not being sent out on channel 10. This is causing the problem. The GM2.rgd device file sends out the bank select and fixes the issue.

Use GM2.rgd and you should be good. You can also replace your autoload with one based on GM2.rgd and you'll always be set each time you start a new composition.

I'm not sure why you would need to do that. GM2 has track 10 set as percussion as it should be. That checkbox makes sure the percussion banks and percussion key maps are used on track 10. (Looks like there is a bug in our GM2.rgd where the percussion key map isn't used for the Standard kit like it should be, but everything else looks ok.)

With GS you can use track 10 for something other than percussion if you want, or you can make other tracks into percussion tracks via sysex messages.
